Nowadays changes generated by info communication technology have fundamental effect on transport vehicles, infrastructure, passengers and in general the society. In the area of vehicle industry the continuous expansion of automation can be observed. Research in the field of autonomous vehicles is present in the Hungarian scientific community, but so far such activities have been performed separately and parallel to each other.

Cooperation

With the establishment of RECAR (Research Center for Autonomous Road Vehicles) the partners created such a comprehensive organization, in which the partners combine their competences and with the utilization of synergies higher level research results can be achieved. Our aim is to connect the academic and industrial competences, also the education and research, so that the training of highly qualified professionals and the strengthening of R+D basis can be enabled.

Education

In the framework of the cooperation the universities will launch 2 new master programs in English. We are mostly awaiting applicants with engineering and computer engineering background. The programs starting in February 2018 will be hosted by BME Faculty of Transportation Engineering and Vehicle Engineering under the name “Autonomous Vehicle Control Engineer” and hosted by ELTE Faculty of Informatics under the name  “Computer Science for Autonomous Driving”.

Research

The RECAR Autonomous Vehicle Research Center will build technologically advanced laboratories for educational and research purposes. The internationally unique education and research with special cooperation of industrial partners will contribute to the increase the number of highly qualified workpalces in this strategically important area.
